Excellent article. As a publisher, we only look at or accept 'finished' completed manuscripts. Pitches, 'ideas', synopses etc don't cut it. We know then that the author's hard graft has been done. However, most manuscripts are 'uncut diamonds' that still need polishing by an editor, proof reader and other professionals involved in getting a book to a standard that can be sold and marketed.
